Mse not updating definitions automatically dating in liverpool
Restarted computer a lot of times now, checked for Microsoft Updates in general, but nothing shows up.EDIT: I've opened a bounty for this, because I really don't know what to do anymore. Please read the entire post & the comments first, create a System Restore Point before making any changes to your system & be careful about any 3rd-party offers while installing freeware.Strange one here--after this past Patch Tuesday, where a client update was issued for MSE, the program no longer autoupdates itself in the background and is now behaving like WD using Windows Update to alert me of new definition files. I suppose that I could set it to do a quick scan daily and update its definitions file before each run but I'd be happy to know of any better solutions to putting MSE back to ninja mode.I got the client update on "Patch Tuesday": Microsoft Security Essentials Version: 1.0.1961.0Antimalware Client Version: 2.1.6519.0Engine Version: 1.1.5502.0Antivirus definitions: 1.77.970.0Antispyware definitions: 1.77.970.0Now, if I manually update the definitions, I get an error stating that the updates failed to install, or something like that, but they show installed anyway, and with a subsequent manual update, it just confirms the definitions are up to date, without error. For the last couple of days, MSE doesn't fails to update, remaining stuck at version 1.75.119 I presume that an error log is created somewhere, or an event log, but I don't know where to find those. Tried it at home, at work and friends places, but never works.
